Department of Dance, Music, and Theatre Temporary Faculty Pool The Department The Dance, Music, and Theatre department offers the following concentrations and degree options: Dance Major and Minor. See the Dance Program BA degree with Concentrations in Music Studies, Applied Music (Performance/Composition), and Music Teacher Preparation. We teach piano, voice, guitar, and all orchestral instruments. Ensembles include Choirs, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, Humboldt Symphony, Percussion Ensembles, Jazz Combos, and Chamber Ensembles. See full listing of course offerings here: Qualifications: Dance Degree: B.A. in appropriate field is required . An earned M.F.A. in an appropriate field will be given preference. Experience: Successful teaching experience at the college level and/or professional work experience related to the appropriate field is required . Preference will be given to those who can provide evidence of teaching effectiveness via evaluation of supervisors or colleagues, the ability to work within the program and stated goals of the Department of Dance, Music, and Theatre. Qualifications: Music Degree: For most Music courses, a Bachelor's degree with advanced-level study relevant to the courses being taught is required. For the courses listed below, the minimum qualification is a Master’s degree, with advanced-level study relevant to the courses being taught. Preference will be given to applicants with a Doctorate in Music Theory, Composition, Musicology, Music Education, or related field. Qualifications: Theatre Degree: M.A. in appropriate field is generally required , however B.A. plus teaching experience will be considered for select courses. Preference will be given to candidates holding a M.F.A. or Ph.D. in the appropriate field. Position Type Lecturer Availability As needed First Review Date Applications received by April 1st annually are given first consideration. Early response is encouraged. Salary Dependent on qualifications and experience. The full-time (15 weighted teaching units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules below are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six (6) monthly payments for each full semester. The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges: Lecturer A $5,507 - $6,677 Lecturer B $6,221 - $13,224 Lecturer C $6,825 - $14,523 Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range. There are also many opportunities at Humboldt to conduct research, teaching and community work on Native American history and cultures, with resources in Special Collections at the Cal Poly Humboldt library.
