Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Economics Department Overview [Department website ] Position Summary [course catalog link ] The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses such as: ECON 40: Introduction to Microeconomics ECON 50: Introduction to Macroeconomics or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students. As an AACSB-accredited institution, the Craig School of Business (CSB) expects faculty members to hold and maintain qualifications consistent with one of the following categories: SA (Scholarly Academic), PA (Practice Academics), SP (Scholarly Practitioners), or IP (Instructional Practitioners). Responsibilities Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading of lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, midterm and final exams. Ensuring all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid). Appointment and Compensation Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States and are not sponsored for work visas. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range placement. Salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule for Academic Year Lecturers. The temporary faculty salary with a Master’s degree is $5,*****,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range, and will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per academic term. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. The number of positions varies by semester. Appointments are typically made just prior to the start of the academic term, and candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; those wishing to remain beyond that must reapply. Fall Semester: August 19 – December 22 (Year). Spring Semester: January 15 – May 26 (Year). Required Qualifications A Master’s degree in Economics or Applied Economics from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent. Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse faculty, staff, and students. Interest in teaching Introduction to Economics (micro and macro) courses. At least 3 years of professional experience in the field, or a doctorate within the previous 5 years, or recent scholarly activity such as peer-reviewed publications. Preferred Qualifications A PhD in Economics. Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, demonstrated through prior teaching experience and evaluations. Successful undergraduate teaching experience. Application Procedures Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis as teaching positions open. Review may begin as early as June 15 for a Fall assignment and requires a July 1 deadline for full consideration. Spring hiring review may begin with an October 31 deadline. Both years’ job announcements close on March 1.
