Business Development Director

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Business Development to lead our efforts in expanding our market presence and driving revenue growth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in 3PL services, especially drayage operations, warehousing logistics, and last mile delivery. You'll be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing high-value client relationships, and identifying strategic growth initiatives to expand our market share. This is a hands-on, in-the-field role. Beyond managing relationships from behind a desk, you'll be actively driving to target locations, prospecting territories in person, and cold calling potential customers face-to-face to generate new business. Duties Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in drayage, warehousing, and final mile services. Actively drive to and visit target locations to prospect and cold call potential customers in person, building a pipeline through direct, on-the-ground outreach. Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to meet revenue and margin targets. Build and maintain long-term relationships with shippers, BCOs, freight forwarders, and other key stakeholders. Collaborate with operations, dispatch, and customer service teams to ensure service alignment and delivery excellence. Prepare and deliver presentations, pricing proposals, and contract negotiations. Report on sales activity, pipeline performance, and market trends to senior leadership. Experience Minimum 5-7 years of business development or sales leadership experience in the 3PL sector. Proven book of business in securing and growing accounts in drayage, warehousing or last mile logistics. Strong understanding of port operations, import/export processes, and domestic freight movement. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Comfortable with field-based selling, including in-person prospecting and cold calling at target sites. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally to customer and prospect locations. Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) and logistics software a plus. Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
