Buyer II

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Buyer II to manage procurement operations in Cincinnati, supporting material supply for life sciences and healthcare applications. The role involves demand planning, supplier relationship management, order tracking, and inventory optimization across manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Review demand reports, prioritize material orders, and place orders based on forecasting data
• Coordinate with demand planners to resolve SAP discrepancies and manage non-standard order requests
• Track orders with suppliers, confirm acknowledgments, delivery dates, and resolve pricing issues
• Partner with cross-functional teams on quality specifications, excess inventory, and damaged material resolution
• Monitor invoice discrepancies and expedite/de-expedite orders to support operational timelines

Requirements

• Advanced degree with no prior experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 2 years procurement/buying experience in manufacturing
• Preferred study areas: Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, or Engineering
• Strong ERP system proficiency (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards) and Microsoft Excel expertise
• Experience with MRP, inventory management, and supplier relationship management
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Knowledge of FDA/ISO regulations and quality systems preferred
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel occasionally to supplier sites
