Location: Chicago, Illinois Job ID: 54383 The Department of Urology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery, Division of Urology at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago seeks a full-time non-tenure-eligible or tenured-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. We are seeking an exceptional academic surgical leader to serve as the next Division Head of Pediatric Urology in the Department of Surgery. The Division Head will hold the Founders' Board Chair in Urology, an endowed professorship established in 2013 through the philanthropic leadership of the Lurie Children's Founders' Board to support the academic mission of the Division of Urology and its leader Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Strategic Vision and Leadership Develop and articulate a strategic vision for the division that aligns with the priorities of the Department of Surgery, Lurie Children's, and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Lead the division's contributions to the institutional pillars of Discovery and Innovation, Clinical Excellence, and Health Equity in Chicago. Represent the division in departmental, hospital, and academic leadership forums. Clinical Excellence and Operations Oversee the quality, safety, and access of pediatric urology clinical services across all sites of care, including the downtown Chicago campus, ambulatory surgery centers in Westchester and Northbrook, and outreach locations. Ensure that clinical activities meet or exceed national benchmarks for outcomes and operational performance. Partner with the division administrator and hospital operational leadership on staffing, scheduling, and clinical workflow. Faculty Development, Recruitment, and Mentorship Recruit, develop, retain, and mentor faculty across clinical, research, and educational tracks. Conduct annual performance reviews and support faculty development and promotion-readiness for academic advancement at Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine. Maintain and foster a collegial, inclusive, and high-performing division culture. Research and Scholarship Cultivate and grow a programmatic research portfolio in pediatric urology, leveraging Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute and the Department of Surgery research infrastructure. Support faculty in pursuit of extramural funding and scholarly productivity. Promote interdisciplinary collaboration across the department and the broader academic medical center. Education and Training Provide leadership for the ACGME-accredited Pediatric Urology Fellowship and for the education of medical students, residents, and rotating fellows. Support the educational missions of the Department of Surgery and the Feinberg School of Medicine. Financial and Administrative Stewardship In partnership with the Division Administrator, develop and manage the division's annual and long-range budgets. Ensure compliance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory standards. Advocacy and External Engagement Represent Pediatric Urology in regional and national professional societies. Engage with the Lurie Children's Foundation in support of the division's strategic priorities, including in the context of the institutional comprehensive campaign. Candidate Qualifications Education and Certification MD, DO, or equivalent degree; MD/PhD or other research doctorate welcomed Board certification in Urology by the American Board of Urology Fellowship training in Pediatric Urology Eligibility for an unrestricted Illinois medical license Experience Substantial clinical experience as an attending pediatric urologist Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic medical center setting Track record of program development, faculty mentorship, and team building Record of scholarly productivity and a vision for the role of research within an academic division Leadership Characteristics A collaborative, transparent, and inclusive leadership style Excellent communication skills with faculty, staff, trainees, patients, families, and institutional leadership Sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to navigate complex academic and clinical environments Commitment to mentorship and the development of others Strategic thinking paired with operational discipline A patient- and family-centered orientation The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled. The expected base pay range for this position is $700,000 - $970,000. Lurie Children's Hospital and Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
