Overview

The Technology department is a strategic partner with BCI’s business areas. It enables investment processes and business activities that contribute to the achievement of BCI’s mission and long-term goals. In recent years, BCI has made significant strides in modernizing its technology workplace – advancing cloud adoption, implementing enterprise‑grade applications, improving infrastructure resilience, and adopting AI and advanced analytics. With a solid foundation now in place, the organization is shifting its focus toward scaling innovation, accelerating transformation, and embedding cyber security into the core of its digital and business strategies.

Responsibilities

To lead this next phase, BCI is seeking a Vice President, Cyber Security – a seasoned, innovative and service‑oriented leader who will be responsible for defining and executing the organization’s forward‑looking cyber strategy. Reporting to the SVP, Technology & Innovation and Chief Technology Officer, the Vice President will oversee a technically strong team of ~11 and lead a portfolio of cyber initiatives that safeguard BCI’s operations, reputation, and global workforce. The role also includes serving as a trusted advisor to the wider BCI organization, the Executive Management Team and Board of Directors, fostering a culture of security awareness, innovation, and resilience.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate is an IT leader with proven experience leading a contemporary, future‑focused cyber security function within a dynamic complex organization. Specific expertise in the following areas is highly desirable:

• Zero Trust security models
• Quantum computing security implications
• Modern threat intelligence frameworks
• Experience integrating AI, machine learning and automation in cyber security operations

Additional qualities include a visionary people‑leader style, a service‑oriented mindset, and the ability to quickly build trust and credibility with the Technology Department, the Board and Management team at BCI and work collaboratively across all areas of the business.

Location

Located in either Vancouver or Victoria (with a preference for Victoria). This is a unique opportunity to lead and evolve a highly‑skilled cyber security function for one of Canada’s most dynamic investment organizations.

Compensation and Benefits

BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance‑based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental perks, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off. The annualized base salary range for this role based in Victoria or Vancouver is CAD $180,000–$230,000. The base salary offered will consider a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill set and level of experience, and internal equity.
