Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 2 years of critical care experience and a CO or compact RN license in hand.

Details

• Med-surg PCU with a mixed patient population including cardiac, minor trauma, respiratory, and mildly unstable hemodynamic patients
• All rooms are negative pressure capable and equipped with ceiling lifts
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating within scope required, including to sister units within the region per facility needs
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active CO or compact RN license required in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required
• First-time travelers considered if candidate has approximately 2 years of PCU/ICU experience
• Skills required include respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care), IV therapy and central/peripheral line care, cardiac drip management, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

• Care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring, respiratory support, and management of mildly unstable hemodynamic conditions
• Responsible for use of Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
• Completion of all facility-specific modules required within the first week of assignment
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during select weeks in 2026
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• Candidates previously employed by the health system or its affiliates may be ineligible for consideration
• Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment may need to wait at least one year before rebooking
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are eligible for the local rate
