At Vitalant, you can make a difference, help save lives, and have a vital impact on your community.### What to Expect### Grade 118 Hourly Pay 35.39 - MLS I Work Schedule: Wednesday - Saturday 3:00 pm - 1:30 am Second Shift Differential: 9% and 3rd Shift Differential 14% Weekend Shift Differential 8%### ### Our comprehensive total rewards support you, your family, and your future with* Blood Banking Training Program and paid certifications* Medical, dental, and vision insurance* 401K + 5% company match* Tuition assistance up to $5k per year* Free basic life and AD&D insurance* Free short-and-long-term disability insurance* Paid time off* Employee Resource Groups* Recognition and perks### As a Med Lab Scientist, you'll get to* Perform high complexity testing in immunohematology, including antibody identification, antigen typing, absorptions, elution, and cross match.(Ref Lab)* Perform production, processing, and labeling of blood components and blood donations (Manu Lab)* Provide technical support to hospital transfusion services.* Review and report test results, participate in investigative studies, participate in quality control, preventative maintenance, and validations.* Receive coaching, encouragement, and support from caring managers who are invested in your career and success.* Bachelor's degree in biology, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent (must receive MLS certification within 6 months of eligibility)* or* Bachelor's degree in approved Science (Biology, Chemistry, etc) and currently possess certification from an accredited agency as MT/MLS* State licensure as required by regulations### Experience* 0-2 years of relevant laboratory experience meeting Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist educational requirements* or* 5 years or more experience as Medical Laboratory Technician### REQUIREMENTS:### KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, medical technology or clinical laboratory science required or equivalent education, training and/or experience with certification as a Medical Technologist by a recognized certifying agency.Medical Laboratory Technician with Associates degree with experience in high complexity testing and meets state licensure defined criteria.### LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONSCertification as a Medical Technologist/MLS/BB by a recognized certifying agency required (or must receive certification within 12 months).State licensure (as required by regulations).### EXPERIENCE0-2 years of relevant laboratory experience meeting Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist educational requirements OR 5 years or more experience for the Medical Laboratory Technician.### SKILLS/ABILITIES### PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis position requires the ability to perform the following (expressed as hours per shift):Sitting 5+Standing 5+Walking 0-3Lift (40# Max) 46086Carry/move (40# max) 0-3Push/pull (10# of force max) 0-3Climbing 0-3Bend 0-3Squat 0-3Kneel N/AReaching above shoulders 0-3Reaching waist to shoulder 0-3Reaching knee to waist 0-3Reaching floor to knee 0-3Grasp 0-3Handling 5+Finger dexterity 5+Pinch 5+Driving 0-3Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this job.
