Growing together.The Medical Assistant provides high-quality patient care through direct and/or telephone contact, following established clinical standards and practices. This role partners closely with physicians and the care team to ensure seamless care delivery, solid coordination, and active patient engagement in care planning. The Medical Assistant also supports providers with clinical procedures and daily operational needs.Schedule:M/T/Th - 9-5:30 in Lake Success, NYW/F - 9-5 in Syosset, NYPrimary Responsibilities:Demonstrate clinical competence in direct patient care and assistance with provider proceduresPerform clinical duties within scope of practice, adhering to Optum NY standards, policies, and protocolsTake a proactive, patient-centered approach to care, addressing individual and family needs at the time of serviceEscort patients to exam rooms efficiently and prepare them for visitsAssist physicians and other licensed providers during exams, diagnostic procedures, and treatmentsAccurately perform authorized clinical procedures, including vital signs, vision screening, and select laboratory testingSeek guidance and validation from physicians or licensed staff when appropriatePrepare e-prescriptions for provider review in accordance with Optum NY policyClean, prepare, and process instruments and equipment per manufacturer and Optum NY guidelinesProcess and label specimens for laboratory transport and ensure corresponding orders are entered in NextGenYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDUp to 2 years of relevant entry level work experiencePreferred Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with 1+ years of recent experience as a medical assistantCurrent CPR/BLS certificationPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $22.00 to $27.25 per hour based on full-time employment.
