Business Development Executive

Job Description If the best part of your day happens outside the office, read on. Somewhere in North Carolina right now, a business owner is losing a day to a network that keeps dropping, a backup nobody tested, and a vendor who stopped returning calls. They do not need a product pitch. They need someone who shows up, asks better questions than the last three people who called, and actually fixes the problem. That is this job. We are a privately owned Managed Services Provider serving small and mid-sized businesses across North Carolina in managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud, VoIP, and backup and disaster recovery. We are established enough to deliver on what you sell and small enough that you will know the technicians by name, get pricing decisions in hours instead of quarters, and see your fingerprints on how this company grows. We are hiring one Account Executive to own new business in the Triad. Not a seat in a call bank. A territory. The Role You will build a book of business from the ground up, finding the right companies, earning the first meeting, understanding what is actually broken, and bringing in a solution the technical team can stand behind. You will be in the market most of the week: chamber events, industry groups, referral coffees, on-site discovery meetings, and door-to-door canvassing. You will have full ownership of your territory, your calendar, and your approach. What you will not have is someone standing over your shoulder counting minutes. We care about pipeline, relationships, and recurring revenue; how you get there is largely up to you to design. This is a road role, not a desk role. If you need a manager to build your day for you, this will not be a fit. If you have been waiting for someone to hand you the keys, it might be exactly right. What a Good Week Looks Like ? Two or three new discovery meetings in the calendar earned through outreach, a referral, or a conversation you started at an event last month. ? A morning at a regional business association or chamber function where you already know half the room by name. ? An on-site visit with a 40-person company that has outgrown its "guy who does computers," walking their office and listening more than talking. ? A working session with an engineer to scope the right stack for a prospect instead of forcing them into a template. A proposal delivered in person, not emailed and hoped for. ? A clean CRM at the end of Friday and a plan for Monday that you wrote yourself. What You Will Own Building the Pipeline ? Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the Triad of North Carolina, with emphasis on companies between 10 and 150 employees. ? Generate your own opportunity flow through networking, referrals, targeted outreach, industry events, and strategic partnerships with vendors, MSP peers, and referral sources. ? Become a recognizable presence in your local business community chambers, trade associations, industry groups, and community functions. Running the Sale ? Conduct discovery meetings that get past the symptom and into the business impact: downtime, risk, compliance exposure, and cost of the status quo. ? Position and sell managed IT services, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, VoIP, and backup and disaster recovery in language a business owner understands. ? Build proposals, pricing, and service agreements in partnership with operations and engineering. ? Negotiate and close recurring-revenue agreements, then stay involved through onboarding so the client experience matches the promise. Growing the Book ? Maintain the relationships you build quarterly business reviews, proactive check-ins, and honest conversations when something goes sideways. ? Identify expansion and upsell opportunities inside existing accounts as their needs evolve. ? Turn satisfied clients into a referral engine. Running Your Business ? Keep an accurate, current pipeline in the CRM; it is how you forecast, and how we back you up. ? Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly recurring revenue goals. ? Stay sharp on technology trends, emerging cybersecurity threats, compliance requirements, and what competitors are putting in front of your prospects. Who You Are We can teach technology. We cannot teach most of this. ? Entrepreneurial. You think like an owner. You see a territory as a business you get to build, not a list you get to work. ? A self-starter, genuinely. Your Monday plan exists before anyone asks for it. Autonomy energizes you rather than leaving you adrift. ? Outgoing and socially fluent. You are comfortable working a room, striking up the conversation, and following up two weeks later without it feeling forced. People remember meeting you. ? Restless behind a desk. You would rather be in someone's conference room than in your inbox, and you find reasons to be in front of people. ? Curious about the technology. You do not need to configure a firewall, but you should understand why it matters enough to hold a credible conversation with an IT-savvy CFO and know when to bring in an engineer. ? Consultative, with a hunter's edge. You ask questions before you pitch, and you still know how to ask for the business. ? Resilient. You understand that a "no" this quarter is often a "yes" next year if you handle it well. What You Bring Required ? Two or more years of B2B sales experience - IT services, telecommunications, SaaS, technology solutions, or comparable consultative sale. ? A track record of hitting or beating a number, and the ability to explain how you did it. ? Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with business owners and executive decision-makers. ? Disciplined time management and the organizational habits that come with running an unsupervised territory. ? Working proficiency with CRM platforms and Microsoft 365. ? Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel the market as needed. Preferred ? Experience selling managed services, cybersecurity, cloud, or VoIP. ? An existing network of business relationships in North Carolina. ? Familiarity with MSP business models and recurring-revenue selling. ? Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field or a career that made one unnecessary.
