Senior Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities Audit and validate payroll data for accuracy, including timekeeping records and employee changes such as hires, terminations, transfers, and compensation updates. Process payroll in rotation for 5,000+ employees across multiple locations and pay cycles (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly), ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. Manage payroll tax filings and year-end reporting (including W-2s), and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts. Maintain and audit payroll records, document and communicate processes, and support internal and external audit requirements. Partner with HR, Finance, and Benefits to ensure data accuracy and resolve complex payroll inquiries related to pay, deductions, and garnishments. Identify and drive process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and standardization across payroll operations. Provide guidance and mentorship to payroll team members and support knowledge sharing across the organization. Qualifications 5+ years of payroll processing experience, with at least 1 year in a senior or lead role. Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations. Proficiency in payroll software, UKG preferred. Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail. Ability to manage confidential data with a high level of integrity. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred. Experience with multi-state payroll preferred.
