Senior Design QA/QC Lead

Detroit, MI (Hybrid)$85-$95/hr

Join a major utility organization as the technical authority responsible for ensuring overhead distribution projects meet engineering standards before construction begins.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior utility professional who prefers quality assurance, technical compliance, constructability reviews, and engineering governance over day-to-day design production.

Responsibilities

• Review overhead distribution design packages at multiple project milestones
• Validate design accuracy and standards compliance
• Identify technical deficiencies and provide corrective recommendations
• Review grounding systems, conductor selection, transformer sizing, clearances, pole loading, and protection schemes
• Track and document standards exceptions and deviations
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned activities
• Partner with design providers to improve first-pass quality

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
• Minimum 6 years of electric utility distribution experience
• Experience with overhead distribution systems
• Strong analytical and technical review skills
• Ability to communicate findings clearly with engineering teams and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Design QA/QC experience
• Utility standards review experience
• 4.8kV to 13.2kV conversion program experience
• Knowledge of pole loading and sag/tension analysis
• PE License preferred
