Job Description

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Key Qualifications:

Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain one.
Experience working with students who have vision impairments in a classroom or school setting.
Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive teaching methods.
Ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual challenges.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff.
Genuine commitment to fostering independence and confidence in students.

Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments.
Assess students’ functional vision and learning environments to recommend appropriate adaptations.
Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to support inclusive classroom experiences.
Provide training on assistive technology and Braille to students and staff.
Monitor progress, maintain records, and participate in IEP meetings.
Serve as an advocate for students, ensuring accessibility and equal opportunities within the school setting.
