Role Description
We're hiring a Staff Engineer to own the technical vision and long-term architecture for Revenue Zone. You'll define the pricing primitives, service boundaries, and data models that let Zapier ship pricing and packaging changes in days instead of months — while keeping every dollar accounted for accurately.
- Design the framework and abstractions product teams plug into for launching new SKUs.
- Build configuration-driven infrastructure for pricing experimentation.
- Ensure the platform evolves without foundational rewrites.
- Drive alignment across teams in a space defined by high ambiguity and competing constraints.
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Sales.
Qualifications
- Proven engineering impact: Experience in complex, production systems at scale.
- Billing/payments/monetization domain experience: Strong knowledge in billing systems, subscription management, payment processing, or financial platforms.
- API, platform, and performance expertise: Experience designing and building APIs and resolving performance bottlenecks.
- Outcome-driven and customer-focused: Define success by customer results, not just technical elegance.
- Cross-team leadership and proactive ownership: Lead technical initiatives across multiple teams.
- AI fluency: Use AI coding tools effectively in your workflow.
- Comfort with complexity: Navigate large, mature codebases effectively.

- Ability to drive strategic evolution of monetization platforms.
- Strong understanding of system architecture and API design.
- Proven track record of identifying performance bottlenecks and delivering optimizations.
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical standards.
