Registered Nurse – Short Stay / Intermediate Care

Facility: Aspirus Wausau Hospital
Location: Wausau, WI
Unit: Short Stay Unit (8 beds)
Contract: 13 Weeks | Start: 3/24
Shift: 12-hour variable | 7:00 AM–7:30 PM / 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hrs/week | OT: After 48 hrs
Patient Ratio: 1:4
Scrubs: Any color

Requirements

• 3+ years RN experience
• 1 previous travel assignment required
• WI RN License
• BLS & ACLS – AHA or ARC
• NIHSS highly preferred
• EPIC experience required
• EKG interpretation required; EKG exam during compliance
• Associate Degree or Certificate

Unit / Patient Population

Observation/intermediate care with stays up to 48 hours and high admission/discharge volume. Patients include anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and pre/post-op Urology & GI . Experience with MS/Tele or observation units preferred. Cardiac/other drips include Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin & Heparin .

Floating

Must float to inpatient units as needed, including IMC and CTU .

Weekend/Holiday

Every other weekend & every other holiday.

Low Census

Contract allows up to 36 hours of low-census unbillable hours . May be low-censused in 4-hour increments; traveler may work only 4 or 8 hours of a shift. Not considered on-call.

Additional Information GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation week. Travelers who decline flu/COVID vaccination during flu season must wear a mask at all times per Aspirus policy.
