About the Position

Job Title: RN Psych Profession: Nursing Specialty: Psychiatric Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating shifts including days, evenings, and nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of inpatient adult psychiatric experience License: Active RN License in Massachusetts Certifications: AHA BLS required Must-Have: Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing systems. Proficient in psychotropic medications and their side effects. Ability to assume the role of charge nurse. Competent in completing admissions and discharges. Skilled in the use of IV pumps and managing diabetic patients. Description: This is an adult psychiatric nursing position. The unit serves a diverse patient population, treating individuals aged 18 to 65. Patients present a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia. The unit also accommodates medically acute patients requiring IV therapy and diabetic care. The clinician-to-patient ratio is approximately 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients. The electronic medical record system utilized is EPIC. Floating to different units may be required. Shifts are rotational for day positions, encompassing day and evening shifts and overnight shifts for nighttime positions.
