Job Summary

As a Patient Access Specialist I, you will be responsible for registering patients accurately into healthcare systems, verifying insurance and benefits, and managing referrals and pre-authorizations. You will also handle point-of-service collections, operate multi-line phone systems, and provide timely responses to patient inquiries, all while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule and register patients with precision, ensuring data integrity including patient identification and insurance verification.
• Verify referrals and pre-authorizations for services as required.
• Conduct registration interviews prior to initial visits.
• Manage point-of-service collections such as co-payments and balances, including cash drawer operations.
• Operate multi-line telephone systems to route and respond to calls professionally and promptly.
• Address patient inquiries with empathy, ensuring comfort, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Complete daily assignments and general administrative tasks efficiently.
• Process incoming and outgoing mail accurately.
• Contribute to workflow improvements and participate in special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
• Healthcare experience is advantageous.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is encouraged.
