Open Rank Faculty Position Without Tenure (WOT), Department of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent Medicine Position Overview School / Campus / College: School of Medicine Organization: Pediatrics, Adolescent Medicine Title: Open Rank Faculty Position Without Tenure (WOT), Department of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent Medicine Position Details Position Description The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT), with an anticipated start date of September 2026. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment. (Assistant Professors are eligible for a 3-year term eligible for renewal beginning July 1, 2029). Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors $16,188 - $23,352 per month, Associate Professors $18,562 - $21,741 per month, Professors $22,206 - $28,990 per month , commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following responsibilities:

• Perform clinical work, teaching, and scholarly activity
• Timely completion of documentation and communication with the multidisciplinary team
• Participate in task forces and committees as needed
• Effectively collaborates with the clinic team to achieve the mission and vision of the Adolescent Medicine division

Clinical Care:

• Participates in outpatient care and the on-call schedule, including inpatient consultations
• Provides excellent clinical care and supports safe, efficient, and high-quality service to patients, families, and colleagues
• Ensures appropriate coordination and integration with other services in the care of patients
• Engages with consultants and other providers in a multidisciplinary model of care

Planning: - Works with administrative and clinical leaders to support quality and performance improvement to ensure that program goals are met Regulatory:

• Supports timely review of any patient safety events
• Responds in a timely manner to physician or patient related feedback or complaints
• Supports legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements
• Supports and participates in MMI program and identifies opportunities for improvement
• Provides input to continuing education activities designed to maintain and enhance competencies
• Timely and punctual billing and documentation
• Clear and collegial collaboration with peers, trainees, staff, patients and families

Research:

• Significant scholarship activities focused on the care for and thriving of adolescents and their health
• Provide mentorship to new faculty and trainees
• Identify opportunities and actively participate in scientific investigations and collaborations
• Maintain academic productivity commensurate for rank and the Clinician Scholar track

Education:

• Supports pediatric clinical education programs for learners, including participation in didactics and supervision of trainees within clinical care
• Provides advanced clinical and/or research training for Adolescent Medicine fellows
• Participates and contributes to quality improvement projects and/or curriculum development

As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCC) and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan. All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service. Qualifications Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications: Earned an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent). Board eligible or board certified in Adolescent Medicine Must be currently licensed as a physician and eligible for licensure as a physician in the State of Washington In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H‑1B visa, graduates of foreign (non‑U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
