Job Title Research Associate Department Engineering | Biomedical Engineering Location Fontana Laboratories (1018) Position Type Term (Fixed Term) Schedule 40 hours per week. First Shift Salary The target hiring range is $51,500 - $67,250, paid monthly. Actual salary will vary based on multiple factors. Responsibilities Research Associate 1‑Engineer will participate in developing, designing and implementing research projects within Dr. Queen’s research lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Additionally, the Research Associate 1 – Engineer will administer and conduct scientific experiments and tests. The candidate will need to independently reproduce, evaluate, research and improve techniques and adapt new methods for existing procedures; research the current state of science in injury mechanisms, rehabilitation from injury or disease and human development; develop and evaluate biomechanical models and computer‑based systems to measure human movement; develop data analysis tools using Matlab and Python scripts and additional software packages; perform relational database development; collect and process 3‑D motion analysis data; collect and analyze electromyographic data as well as pressure and load measurements; implement new data collection methods in a collaborative and multi‑disciplinary environment; assist with grant development; perform general computer and equipment troubleshooting and maintenance as needed. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering or a related program required; 3 years of working experience specializing in gait and motion analysis required with an Associate's Degree, or 1 year of working experience specializing in gait and motion analysis required with a Bachelor's Degree. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge to the conduct of engineering research required. At least one year of working experience specializing in gait and motion analysis required. Desired: Relational database development and management experience preferred (REDCap experience). Experience in an engineering research capacity desired. Knowledge of biomechanics data collection methods and equipment troubleshooting, and ability to work well in larger teams on multiple projects simultaneously. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre‑employment physical, including a drug screen.
