Position Summary:

The Vice President of Clinical Programs is responsible for the oversight, direction, and support of clinical operations in assigned long-term care and skilled nursing facilities. This position ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, promotes quality resident care, drives clinical excellence, and supports facility nursing teams through leadership, training, and performance management. The Vice President of Clinical Programs may also serve as an interim Director of Nursing (DON) during periods of leadership transition or vacancy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and clinical oversight to Directors of Nursing (DONs) and clinical staff within assigned region.

Monitor clinical performance and quality assurance measures to ensure high standards of resident care.

Conduct regular facility visits to assess compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with administrators, DONs, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement action plans for areas of concern.

Support clinical teams in survey readiness, response to citations, and implementation of corrective action plans.

Identify trends in clinical outcomes and assist in the development of best practices and improvement strategies.

Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and development of facility-level clinical leadership.

Ensure effective implementation of corporate clinical initiatives, policies, and education programs.

Promote resident safety, infection prevention, and adherence to evidence-based nursing practices.

May serve as interim DON in the event of a leadership vacancy, providing on-site support until a permanent replacement is hired.

Serve as a liaison between facilities and corporate leadership regarding clinical operations.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of clinical leadership experience in long-term care/skilled nursing settings, including 3+ years in a multi-facility or regional role.

In-depth knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations (CMS, OBRA, OSHA, etc.).

Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

Ability to travel extensively within the region (up to 75%).

Proficient in EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
