Description:
The role involves providing care in a long-term care and skilled nursing facility.
Responsibilities include medication and treatment administration.
Other duties consist of blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and IV medications.
Tasks also involve administering TPN, performing tube feedings, and wound care.
Clinicians will conduct lab draws and specimen collections.
Care includes foley/catheter and trach care, as well as assisting with activities of daily living.
Assessment and charting are essential components of the role.
Monitoring vital signs and managing oxygen therapy are required.
Only registered nurses will perform central line care, chest tube management, and IV starts.
Eligibility includes working with residents who are 18 years or older, including those in hospice care.
The facility has dedicated hospice rooms.
Floor nurses will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, which may include physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, social workers, and dieticians.
No respiratory therapy staff are available on-site; however, various oxygen equipment will be utilized.
Pharmacy services are available during regular business hours, and medications are administered directly from pill bottles.
Scheduled shifts are typically 8.25 hours, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Nursing staff may be required to work weekends, including holidays, when scheduled.
Consistency in nurse assignments is preferred, though floating to other areas may be necessary.
Clean, professional scrubs of any color are acceptable, with specific restrictions on camo.
Unit-specific orientation spans three days to ensure a thorough understanding of the facility's operation and procedures.
