Senior Lab Operations Specialist, Flow Cytometry

Gilead Sciences seeks a Senior Lab Operations Specialist for Flow Cytometry to support daily operations of its flow cytometry core laboratory in Foster City, California. The role involves maintaining and troubleshooting cytometry instrumentation, training users on multiple platforms, optimizing assays, and collaborating across oncology, inflammation, and virology research areas. A bachelor's degree in life sciences and 5+ years of relevant experience are required.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform QC procedures on flow cytometry instrumentation
- Train users on conventional, spectral, imaging cytometry platforms and cell sorting operations
- Perform multiparameter cell sorting and optimize sorting conditions for specific assays
- Execute experiments to validate and refine flow cytometry standard operating procedures
- Assist core users with flow technology training, experimental design, and data analysis guidance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences or related field with 5+ years flow cytometry experience
- Master's degree in life sciences or related field with 3+ years flow cytometry experience
- Strong cell biology and immunology background with cell-based assay expertise
- Advanced troubleshooting and critical thinking skills for assay and instrumentation problems
- Excellent verbal, technical, and interpersonal communication abilities
- Experience with conventional and spectral flow cytometry platforms preferred
- Prior core facility experience highly desirable
Compensation: $117,895–$152,570 base; discretionary annual bonus and stock-based long-term incentives eligible
