Southeast Christian Church is looking for a Junior Graphic Designer for the Young Adults Ministry who truly gets social, not just someone who can make things look good, but a visual storyteller who understands how great creative earns attention, communicates clearly, and helps content perform. This role sits on Southeast’s MarCom team and works directly with the YA Social Media Coordinator to shape how Southeast Young Adults shows up online. While receiving creative leadership and development from the MarCom team, this person will be deeply embedded with Southeast Young Adults, with a clear dotted-line partnership to the Young Adults Pastor and ministry team. A primary focus of this role is creating social-first visual content for Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, while also supporting Facebook/Meta and emerging platforms as needed. This role may also support broader Young Adults creative needs across services, events, campaigns, promotional moments, and in-room experiences. From carousels and YouTube thumbnails to Stories, teaching content, campaigns, events, and real-time ministry moments, you’ll help build a visual presence for Southeast Young Adults that feels current, compelling, cohesive, and unmistakably us.

What You Will Be Doing:

Social-First Design & Visual Storytelling 

• Create compelling, on-brand visual content for Southeast Young Adults across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging platforms.
• Design social-first assets including carousels, Stories, YouTube thumbnails, quote and teaching content, event promotion, campaigns, and other platform-specific creative.
• Translate teaching, stories, ministry priorities, social concepts, and cultural moments into visual content that earns attention and communicates clearly.
• Think beyond aesthetics to consider how creative choices influence whether someone stops, watches, clicks, swipes, shares, saves, or keeps scrolling.
• Support the Young Adults Pastor's social presence with visual content that complements his voice, teaching, and broader content strategy.
• Adapt creative across platforms with an understanding that great platform-native design often requires more than simply changing dimensions.

 

Young Adults Creative Support 

• Support broader Young Adults design needs as opportunities arise, including creative for services, events, teaching series, campaigns, promotional moments, and in-room experiences.
• Help translate Young Adults ministry vision and priorities into creative that feels cohesive across digital and physical environments.
• Collaborate with MarCom and Young Adults leadership as the creative needs of the ministry grow and evolve, with room for the scope of this role to grow alongside them.

 

Creative Partnership & Collaboration 

• Work directly with the YA Social Media Coordinator to translate social strategy, audience insights, content ideas, and ministry priorities into strong visual executions.
• Collaborate with MarCom leadership to maintain a high standard of design and alignment with Southeast's broader visual identity.
• Stay closely connected to the Young Adults Pastor and ministry team to understand the audience, vision, teaching, events, stories, and moments shaping the ministry.
• Participate actively in brainstorming and content planning, bringing concepts, references, ideas, and creative solutions rather than waiting only for finished design requests.
• Show up as a collaborative, energizing presence on the team, someone who makes both the creative work and the people around them better.

 

Innovation & Creative Problem Solving 

• Stay ahead of social media trends, emerging design techniques, platform updates, creator behavior, and new creative tools, proactively bringing relevant ideas and approaches to the team.
• Study what is performing visually across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and the broader social landscape, looking beyond what is trending to understand why it is working. - Develop creative concepts that push beyond templates and expected church content, finding fresh ways to reach and engage young adults while staying within Southeast's brand and ministry guardrails.
• Partner with the Social Media Coordinator(s) to learn from content performance and use those insights to inform future creative decisions.
• Recognize the difference between being culturally current and chasing every trend, bringing discernment as well as creativity to the work.

 

Management & Execution 

• Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Organize and maintain working files, templates, exported assets, and creative resources for efficient collaboration.
• Review work carefully before delivery or publishing to ensure accuracy, appropriate sizing, visual consistency, and brand alignment.
• Receive and apply feedback with humility, curiosity, and a desire to continually strengthen the work.
• Communicate proactively with the Social Media Coordinator and MarCom leadership about timelines, needs, challenges, and opportunities.

 

What We Are Looking For 

• Strong foundational graphic design skills with a portfolio demonstrating excellent instincts. Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. - Strong understanding of Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, with familiarity across Facebook/Meta.
• An understanding of what makes visual content perform in a social environment and how creative needs differ by platform, audience, and format.
• Strong awareness of young adult culture and the creators, brands, visual language, and content shaping it.
• Ability to think across both digital and physical creative applications and adapt design thinking to different ministry needs.
• Ability to work quickly across multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Working AI fluency and curiosity about how emerging creative tools can accelerate ideation, exploration, and production without replacing strong creative judgment.
• A willingness to learn, receive feedback, experiment, and continually develop as a designer.
• A heart for the Gospel and genuine desire to use creative work to help young adults know Jesus and connect to the local church.
