Senior Accounting Specialist

Job Summary The Senior Accounting Specialist is primarily responsible for processing and maintaining fixed assets, prepaid accounts, and executing a variety of financial processes including month‑end and year‑end closing, general ledger reviews, variance analysis, account reconciliations, and assisting with quarterly regulatory reporting. Job Title Senior Accounting Specialist Department Accounting – Corporate Administration Business Unit Accounting & Finance Reports To VP, Controller FLSA Status Non‑Exempt Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for monthly fixed assets and prepaid accounting Supports daily liquidity and funds management Prepare general ledger certifications (e.g., correspondent bank accounts, asset/liability general ledger accounts and bank control accounts) and applicable schedules Assist in the month‑end close process and reporting, including variance analysis Assist in preparing the quarterly Call Report and supporting schedules Supports preparation of various analytical reports and information Analyze financial information to identify discrepancies Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner Collaborate with different departments to achieve deliverables on financial reporting Build and maintain rapport with internal stakeholders and external agencies involved in the financial reporting process Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned Expected attendance in office Qualifications Minimum 3 years of accounting experience Commercial banking accounting experience preferred Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Minimum intermediate proficiency in Excel Skills and Competencies Perform tasks with minimal supervision Proactive and self‑starter Independent critical thinker Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with ability to multi‑task, manage shifting priorities and accomplish deliverables accurately and on time Ability to write reports, business correspondence and detailed procedures Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other team members, managers, clients, customers, and vendors Technical Skills Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills Working knowledge of accounting related software Physical Demands Primarily office environment Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands or arms Required to sit for long periods of time Occasionally required to stand and walk Occasionally required to lift up to 10 pounds Specific vision abilities required, including close vision and the ability to focus and review large data sets regularly Compliance Responsibilities The employee is responsible for understanding and following the Bank’s BSA/AML policies, including elevating suspicious activity to the BSA Officer.
