Billing Specialist

D3 Search is currently seeking a Legal Billing & Collections Specialist on behalf of a prominent & highly respected full-service law practice situated in Los Angeles, CA (90067). Legal Billing & Collections Specialist Note: 4+ years' LEGAL billing (Aderant) & collections expertise/experience REQUIRED. Employment Status: Full-time/direct-hire employment. Non-exempt role (OT paid in accordance with CA laws). Employer Work Model: The Legal Billing & Collections Specialist position will involve in all aspects of billing and collections including workflow coordination, new product implementation and training, and analysis. The successful candidate is highly knowledgeable about legal accounting processes and has a broad understanding of E-Billing and other legal billing applications. Heavy use of analytical skills to dissect financial information and communicate with attorneys, clients, management, and department staff. High energy and desire to quickly grow and help to further develop the Billing and Collections Team. Reconcile client account and payment discrepancies. Assume billing responsibility as needed due to absence or workload issues of billers. Quickly handles incoming requests regarding billing and collections questions. Handle complicated billing, insurance billing, E-billing rejects and ad hoc reconciliation of client accounts. Work with Manager to understand and help facilitate the Billing process and month-end billing close. Participates in the Collections process to help ensure monthly and yearly revenue goals are achieved. Participates in monthly Collections meetings and ensures notes and follow-up calendar items are completed. Works with attorneys as needed to identify billing formats and process improvement for collections efforts. Review and or prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports; analysis as needed. Review new engagement letters and monitor rate structures and client guidelines. Work with CFO and CMO on alternative fee arrangements related to client RFPs. Work with Manager to streamline work and develop reporting with outside Consultant. Work with Manager to assess new software products; participate in implementation, testing and training. Provide scheduled updates according to monthly billing and collections processes; monitors billing transactions and activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and conformance to company policies. Utilizes technology resources to maximize efficiency while maintaining the highest level of professionalism. Exercises considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with both attorneys and staff. Minimum 5 years’ experience with the billing, collections, and e-Billing functions of a law firm. Ability to participate with remote work professionals to maximize productivity and accuracy. Experience with Aderant Classic or Expert Billing, Paperless Billing and Bill Blast strongly preferred. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; proficiency with Word and PowerPoint required. Experience working on a software implementation team. Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective relationships. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Excellent analytics and communications skills. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion. Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
