Instructor, Nursing Assistant Training Program - Adjunct

Posting Type: Adjunct Faculty Job Description Summary: Adjunct (PT) teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college. Under general supervision, this individual will assist in the development, preparation, and teaching of Health Careers courses within the department, as well as participate in the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and overall effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in health careers training programs. Instructional responsibilities require a broad-based knowledge of the role of the nursing assistant in the health industry. Adjunct faculty may also be responsible for advising and recruiting students and collaborating with business and industry partners to provide necessary training and education. Duties/Functions: Teaching Prepare & teach departmental courses, including: Developing learner-centered lesson plans Employing teaching strategies & instructional materials for different learning styles Incorporating current technology appropriately in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments Creating a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population Preparing, distributing, and utilizing instructional support materials such as course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices Conducting assessments of student learning outcomes in courses and programs as appropriate Professional Development Maintain a professional status to support the instructional mission by: Participating in professional development activities to stay current in the field Maintaining current credentials or licensures as required by program or accreditation Engaging in professional development to enhance teaching skills and strategies Administration Provide oversight of facilities, equipment, and student records, including: Maintaining classroom and laboratory spaces and equipment Ensuring security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials Maintaining student records (grades, attendance) using technology-based programs (e.g., Colleague, WebAdvisor, Moodle) Complying with applicable rules and regulations Student Support Create an environment conducive to student success by: Addressing student concerns promptly Supporting retention and persistence strategies Referring students to campus and community resources Modeling employability skills such as adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain student records and perform all duties assigned by the supervisor. Education Required: Associate degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution with the ability to obtain a bachelor's degree within 2 years of hire North Carolina Registered Nurse unencumbered license or the ability to attain one prior to hire Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution KSA Required: The instructor shall possess an understanding of and commitment to the role of the Community College, especially its mission to support student success and workforce development. #J-18808-Ljbffr The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc.
