About the Opportunity

\n

We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Manager to lead and support a growing transmission line engineering team. This position is ideal for a seasoned transmission line engineer who has progressed into a leadership role and is ready to oversee technical execution, project delivery, team development, and client relationships.

\n

\n

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of transmission line engineering experience, a strong understanding of overhead transmission line design, and experience leading engineers and designers through complex utility projects.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Lead and manage a team of transmission line engineers, designers, and technical staff.
\n
• Provide technical leadership and oversight for transmission line engineering and design projects.
\n
• Manage multiple projects from initial scope and design through final deliverables and construction support.
\n
• Review and provide guidance on engineering calculations, design packages, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
\n
• Oversee the design of overhead transmission lines, including new construction, rebuilds, relocations, upgrades, and line modifications.
\n
• Provide technical direction related to structure selection, loading, clearances, conductor selection, sag and tension, guying, foundations, and line routing.
\n
• Ensure designs comply with applicable NESC, ASCE, IEEE, utility-specific standards, and client requirements.
\n
• Work closely with Project Managers and other engineering disciplines to coordinate project schedules, deliverables, resources, and budgets.
\n
• Mentor and develop engineers and designers while helping establish best practices and technical standards.
\n
• Assist with staffing, resource planning, workload forecasting, and development of the transmission line team.
\n
• Serve as a senior technical point of contact for clients and participate in project meetings and presentations.
\n
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with utility clients and other industry partners.
\n
• Support business development, proposals, estimates, scopes of work, and client pursuits.
\n
• Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and support growth of the transmission line practice.
\n
• Monitor project performance and help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to client expectations.
\n
• Participate in field visits, construction support, and occasional travel as needed.
\n

Required Qualifications

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
\n
• 10+ years of progressive transmission line engineering experience.
\n
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred/required.
\n
• Significant experience with overhead transmission line engineering and design.
\n
• Experience leading engineering teams and/or managing transmission line projects.
\n
• Strong knowledge of NESC and applicable transmission line design standards.
\n
• Experience with transmission line design software and tools such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER, or equivalent.
\n
• Strong understanding of transmission line structures, loading, clearances, conductor systems, sag/tension, and related design requirements.
\n
• Ability to review and provide technical direction on engineering deliverables.
\n
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, engineers, designers, and project managers.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n

\n
• Experience with 69kV through 500kV+ transmission line projects.
\n
• Experience working directly with electric utilities and major power delivery clients.
\n
• Experience leading a transmission line engineering department or practice.
\n
• Established relationships within the electric utility and power delivery industry.
\n
• Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar design platforms.
\n
• Experience with NESC clearance analysis and compliance.
\n
• Experience with transmission line routing, structure spotting, and optimization.
\n
• Experience with project estimating, proposals, scopes, and client development.
\n
• Previous responsibility for staffing, utilization, forecasting, or department-level budgets.
\n
• Construction support and field experience.
\n
• Ability to mentor and develop junior and senior-level engineers and designers.
\n
