Concrete Working Superintendent – Substations & Transmission Lines

We are seeking an experienced Concrete Working Superintendent with a strong background in high-voltage substation and transmission line construction. This is a traveling, hands-on field leadership position, not a pickup-truck superintendent role. The right person will work alongside the crew, take ownership of the jobsite, and ensure concrete scopes are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Travel to project sites as required, often for extended periods.
\n
• Lead and work alongside concrete crews on substation and transmission line projects.
\n
• Read and interpret blueprints, civil plans, foundation drawings, specifications, elevations, and layouts accurately.
\n
• Perform and verify jobsite layout for foundations, equipment pads, structures, and related concrete work.
\n
• Plan and manage daily manpower, equipment, materials, and work sequencing.
\n
• Have strong working knowledge of drill rigs and drilled foundation operations.
\n
• Oversee excavation, reinforcing steel, forming, concrete placement, finishing, and foundation construction.
\n
• Understand construction of transformer pads, containment pits, containment walls, drilled piers, equipment foundations, transmission structure foundations, and other substation and transmission-related concrete structures.
\n
• Complete required QA/QC documentation, electronic timesheets, daily reports, and computer-based project documentation.
\n
• Understand and manage IRA prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements, including journeyman/apprentice ratios and workforce compliance.
\n
• Coordinate with project management, safety, QA/QC, subcontractors, inspectors, and customers.
\n
• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive jobsite while keeping the project on schedule.
\n
• Hold crews accountable and provide strong field leadership.
\n

Qualifications

\n

\n
• Significant experience supervising concrete crews in substation, transmission line, utility, or high-voltage electrical construction.
\n
• Strong knowledge of heavy civil and structural concrete work associated with substations and transmission systems.
\n
• Ability to accurately read blueprints and perform layout.
\n
• Knowledge of drill rig operations and drilled foundation work.
\n
• Comfortable using computers and tablets for QA/QC, timesheets, reporting, and documentation.
\n
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
\n
• Must be trustworthy, honest, dependable, organized, and accountable.
\n
• Must be willing and able to travel extensively based on project needs.
\n
• Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred.
\n
