Technical Writer III

The DSS Documentation department is looking for a full-time Technical Writer III to join their team and work remotely or in Juno Beach, FL to create end user friendly software documentation.

Position Summary:

Technical Writer III:

• Is tasked with producing high-quality end user software documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products.
• Are responsible for collaborating with developers, quality engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts to write and update content for user manuals and other technical documentation that make DSS products easier to use.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

• Uses FrameMaker to write easy-to-understand end user and developer guides.
• Works with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
• Applies appropriate templates and styles according to existing style guides.
• Proofreads and edits content as needed.
• Analyzes existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
• Maintains version control of all documentation.
• Produces high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.

• Assists with ad hoc tasks as needed

Qualifications:

Skills:

Required:

• Advanced working knowledge of the following tools: FrameMaker, RoboHelp, Acrobat, Snagit, Microsoft Office, etc.
• Familiar with Microsoft Manual of Style
• Experience with interviewing subject matter experts, developers, customer representatives, management and end users to gather necessary information for creating and updating software manuals

Desired:

• Experience working with Atlassian and/or Microsoft SharePoint

Education:

Required:

• BS or BA degree required preferably in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or any other applicable degree
• A combination of education and experience considered equivalent

Desired:

• Any advanced training or certifications related to the position

Years of experience in a similar role:

Required:

• 7 + years technical writing experience in a software development environment

Desired:

• 10+ years technical writing, editing experience in a software development environment, preferably Medical related software
