Senior Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager - Water/Wastewater to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will oversee the full project lifecycle, ensuring that programmes are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate internal and external stakeholders, and provide clear leadership across design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover activities.


Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining project execution plans, budgets, schedules, risk registers and performance reports; managing contracts, change control, commercial matters and delivery risks; and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, technical standards, environmental requirements and health and safety procedures. You will build effective relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, regulators and supply-chain partners, chair progress meetings, resolve issues promptly and provide accurate updates to senior stakeholders. The role will also involve supporting bids and business development, mentoring project staff, and identifying opportunities to improve delivery methods, efficiency and customer outcomes.


Applicants should have substantial experience managing major water, wastewater or wider civil infrastructure projects, ideally within a regulated utilities, engineering consultancy, contractor or public-sector environment. A strong understanding of project controls, construction methodologies, contract administration and commercial management is essential, together with experience working under forms of contract such as NEC or similar. You will need excellent communication, negotiation, organisation and problem-solving skills, as well as the confidence to make informed decisions in a demanding delivery environment. A relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering, construction, project management or a related discipline is preferred. Professional membership or chartered status would be advantageous.
