Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (HS Clinical, Clinical X, In-Residence, Adjunct) Psychiatry Research Faculty Position Overview Position title: Psychiatry Research Faculty. Salary range: The base pay range for this position is $93,700 – $228,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Open date: May 1, 2026. Next review date: Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 11:59pm Pacific Time. Position Description The Department of Psychiatry within the School of Medicine at UC San Diego seeks faculty who will develop an independent extramurally funded research program. Candidates will have teaching duties that may include lecturing and mentoring in various educational programs. Successful candidates will focus research on one or more priority areas such as computational psychiatry, AI, cognitive/behavioral interventions, biomarkers, neurocognitive disorders, mental health and technology, eating disorders, addiction, mood disorders, psychosis, mindfulness, neuromodulation, genetics, epigenetics, the endocannabinoid system, or other research programs and centers. Depending on departmental needs and candidate training, they may also provide clinical care. Appointments will be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level based on candidate background and experience. Various appointment series are available, which may require self‑funding for the candidate. Clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited for appointees on the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Qualifications MD, DO, or equivalent, or PhD or equivalent in neuropsychiatric disorders. Active research program in a health‑related discipline with at least one year of productivity and at least one first‑authored, peer‑reviewed publication. More than one year of teaching and/or mentorship experience. For MD, DO or equivalent candidates with clinical duties: eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit. For PhD or equivalent candidates with clinical duties: graduated from an APA‑accredited doctoral program with completion of an APA‑accredited internship.
