Adjunct Faculty: Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)

Job Summary Aims Community College is dedicated to fostering an environment of innovation and inclusive excellence. This faculty position focuses on teaching UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) ground content, flight training, field applications, and engineering courses while engaging in professional development and departmental governance. Job Duties Teach assigned UAS courses, available for day or evening schedules. Assist with curriculum development and modification to reflect emerging UAS technology. Evaluate students, provide advising, handle registration, and support recruitment and retention efforts. Participate in department, division, and college activities while adhering to FAA policies and college procedures. Engage in professional development activities to stay current in the field. Perform additional duties as directed by the Department’s Executive Director or Academic Dean. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree and a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate with a minimum of 50 hours of UAS flight experience. Associate of Applied Science degree in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) with the same pilot certification and flight experience. 2,000 hours (two semesters) of verified full‑time teaching experience in UAS coursework (full‑time defined as 51% or more of a teaching schedule). Post‑secondary vocational credential in Aviation Technology issued by Aims Community College CTE Office, or qualification to obtain it. License to use a company vehicle for business travel, successful MVR check, and insurance eligibility under Aims insurance. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s Degree in Unmanned Aerial Systems or a related aviation field. High level of computer skills.
