Staff Tax Accountant

As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with tax laws, and efficient tax planning. Job Responsibilities Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to identify opportunities for tax savings and mitigate risks. Assist in tax planning and strategy development to optimize our tax positions and minimize tax liabilities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial information and ensure accurate and timely completion of tax returns and filings. Review financial statements and transaction records to identify and resolve tax-related issues or discrepancies. Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on our tax positions, advising management on potential risks and opportunities. Assist with tax audits and examinations, coordinating with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities as necessary. Support the implementation and maintenance of effective internal controls and processes to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. Provide guidance and support to junior team members, promoting their professional growth and development. Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification is highly preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting or corporate tax department, with a focus on tax compliance and planning. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, including experience with individual, partnership, and corporate taxation. Proficiency in tax software (e.g., ProSystem FX,) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Accounting CS). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them to specific situations. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and explain tax concepts to non-experts. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
