Registered Nurse (RN) - Specialty Resource Coordinator Main Operating Room (Full Time, Days 10hrs)

Work Location: Orange, California Work Shift: Day – 10 hrs (United States of America) Job Summary The Specialty Resource Coordinator – RN coordinates assigned surgical specialty services within the Main OR and the Procedure Center. The coordinator functions as the circulator, monitors the surgery schedule, ensures case preparation, manages critical resources, and provides clinical leadership to staff nurses, scrub techs, OR assistants, anesthesia, and surgeons. Responsibilities Coordinate assigned surgical specialty services within the Main OR and Procedure Center. Act as the circulator, monitoring the surgery schedule and communicating with surgeons, case schedulers, SPD, and materials to ensure case preparation is complete for the day of surgery. Manage cost-effective resources for the specialty group. Provide clinical leadership to staff nurses, scrub techs, OR assistants, unit assistants, anesthesia personnel, and surgeons. Give real‑time feedback to staff to improve clinical care and resolve nursing issues. Ensure quality care according to hospital and regulatory standards and use hospital resources efficiently. Collaborate with hospital staff, families, physicians, and other health professionals to achieve organizational and departmental goals. Orient new staff to the specialty, validate competency, and provide periodic specialty education. Engage in performance improvement projects. Participate in OR call and holiday call coverage. Qualifications Strong clinical knowledge of specialty nursing. Ability to set goals, judge results, and advance care through new ideas and technology. Effective problem‑solving and role‑modeling of professional behavior. Excellent verbal and written communication and leadership skills. Analytical and organizational skills for complex patient problems. Attention to detail, poise, and composure in stressful situations. Experience Minimum three (3) years of operating room experience, including at least two (2) years in specialty area (Required). Preferred: Two (2) years of pediatric operating room experience. Education Associate degree in Nursing (must complete BSN within 2 years of hire) – Required. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Training and Skills Broad knowledge of advanced concepts in operating room practices and nursing – Required. Strong clinical knowledge of specialty nursing and goal setting – Required. Preferred: Prior experience in progressive clinical, educational, and leadership roles in acute pediatric settings. Licensure Basic Life Support (BLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Registered Nurse – CA (RN); Advanced Life Support (ACLS) – Required. Preferred: Certified RN – OR (CNOR) within one year from date of hire. Pay Range Minimum $58.34 – Midpoint $77.32 – Maximum $96.29 per hour, determined by factors including knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, and position requirements. Work Environment Functional demand is light to moderate. Physical activity includes lifting 25–35 lbs, pushing/pulling 50–100 lbs, and routine movements such as bending, reaching, and standing. Sensory requirements include color discrimination, depth perception, and vision. Environmental requirements include exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and chemicals.
