Sr. Accounting Process Optimization - Intercompany Settlements

Greater Seattle area greatly desired. Willing and able to work onsite in Seattle 2-3 days per week. Teleion is seeking a Senior Accounting Process Optimization professional to join our team and deliver hands‑on accounting expertise to our clients. In this client‑facing project role, you will split your time between two complementary areas. Your work will support the client’s Controllership organization by diving deep into the intercompany currency settlement activities to understand the end‑to‑end current process, stakeholders, and pain points to deliver a process optimization solution. The client’s settlement process today is largely manual and the organization is redesigning it toward an on‑demand settlement model. You will help define and document the standard process, capture and simplify bespoke processes, build exception‑handling procedures, and develop the business requirements that feed client‑led automation initiatives—including the redesign of restricted currency processes—all without compromising controllership. You will be a key contributor embedded within client teams, partnering closely with the client’s Controllership, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and regional accounting stakeholders. Working the settlement close firsthand is a deliberate part of this role—it is how you will develop a working knowledge of the pain points that the future‑state process must solve. The successful candidate is a seasoned individual contributor who thrives in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments, brings both technical accounting depth and a process‑design mindset, and can influence and align diverse stakeholder groups. Responsibilities Process Optimization & Settlement Redesign Support the client’s redesign of the settlement process from a manual process to an on‑demand settlement model. Define the standard settlement process and capture bespoke, entity‑specific processes, with the goal of simplifying and standardizing wherever possible—without compromising controllership. Create and document exception processes, and influence stakeholders to align on how exceptions are identified, escalated, and resolved. Develop business requirements—through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and hands‑on process observation—that feed client‑led automation projects, including the restricted currency process redesign; support solution requirements, design, and testing phases. Produce the project’s core deliverables: A defined, documented settlement procedure that all stakeholders align to. A comprehensive list of exceptions and how each will be handled. A Business Requirements Document (BRD) supporting automation and process redesign. A monitoring framework describing how the team will oversee the process and exceptions on an ongoing basis. Develop SOPs, process maps, training materials, and knowledge‑transfer documentation so client teams can sustain improvements after project completion. Strengthen the controllership environment by building controls, documentation, and monitoring/review points into newly designed processes. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 6+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting (Big 4 / national firm) or consulting experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience defining and documenting accounting processes—SOPs, process maps, exception procedures, or similar—ideally in environments with little existing documentation. Proven ability to gather and author business requirements (BRDs) and support solution design and testing for process automation initiatives. Strong communication and stakeholder‑influence skills, with the ability to align cross‑functional groups (Controllership, Ops Accounting, Treasury, Tax) and integrate quickly into client teams. Experience with month‑end close and financial statement preparation. Proficiency with ERP systems and intercompany/close tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, BlackLine) and advanced Excel skills. Preferred Qualifications Active CPA license (or international equivalent). Hands‑on experience with intercompany accounting and settlement, including reconciliation of cross‑border balances and resolution of out‑of‑balance positions. Experience with foreign currency accounting in multi‑currency environments, including remeasurement and translation (ASC 830) and cash‑in‑transit. Experience at a public, multinational company with multi‑currency operations, cross‑border settlement, and restricted currency jurisdictions. Familiarity with transfer pricing and arm’s‑length intercompany requirements. Familiarity with Treasury operations, FX, and settlement systems, and with intercompany subledger tools. Familiarity with SOX controls and experience designing controls into new or redesigned processes. Experience supporting large‑scale process redesign or transformation programs (e.g., moving from periodic to on‑demand or continuous processes). Proficiency with AI tools, with demonstrated experience implementing automation solutions and intelligent workflows for accounting functions. Lean, Six Sigma, or other process‑improvement training or certification. Pay Range: $130,000 – $145,000 annually (depending on experience) Teleion offers full benefits, PTO, holiday, and 401(k).
