Job Overview Truck Driving Companies are hiring Over-the-Road (OTR) Truck Drivers to transport freight safely and efficiently across long distances, including multi‑state routes. This position requires extended time on the road, strict adherence to safety regulations, and the ability to meet scheduled delivery deadlines. OTR drivers are responsible for vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate logs, securing cargo, and communicating with dispatch throughout each trip. Compensation is typically structured as cents per mile (CPM) or a percentage of load, with average annual earnings ranging from $60,000 to $90,000+ depending on experience, mileage, and route type. Pay is typically between $0.50 and $0.60 per mile, with additional earnings through detention pay, layover pay, safety bonuses, and performance incentives. Responsibilities Operate a tractor‑trailer combination with reefer unit. Perform daily pre‑trip and safety inspections on equipment. Hook and unhook trailers. Verify and complete required documentation and reports. Maintain accurate daily logs and electronic records. Communicate with dispatch as required. Demonstrate excellent customer service. Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and procedures. Perform other duties as required. Do pre‑ and post‑trip inspections on vehicle. Safely operate tractor and trailer. Properly secure loads with straps or load bars. Manage home time: Minimum of 2 weeks out, home for 2 days, maximum 5 days home. Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) or willingness to complete a driver training program. At least 2 years of recent verifiable experience (military experience may be included). If less than 2 years of verifiable experience, acceptance into a training program is possible. Minimum age 21 years old. Good motor vehicle record (MVR) based on hiring standards. No more than 15 mph over‑speeding citations in the past 3 years. No DOT preventable or recordable accidents in the last 5 years. No felony convictions. No DUI/DWI in the last 5 years or while holding a CDL. Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carriers (FMC) regulations. Ability to read and speak English.
