About Penny's

Penny's Bagels is a new neighborhood bagel shop in the heart of Haddonfield, NJ. We're building something special: a welcoming, energetic space where great food, quality ingredients, and genuine hospitality come together. We're looking for a motivated, experienced Kitchen Supervisor who is just as comfortable preparing great food as they are interacting with guests.

The Role

This is a unique, hands-on position that blends kitchen leadership, food preparation, and front-of-house hospitality. Our Kitchen Supervisor will help oversee the daily flow of service, maintain food quality and consistency, support team members, and ensure guests have an exceptional experience. The ideal candidate understands that a successful restaurant requires both an efficient kitchen and outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Operations

• Prepare and execute menu items according to Penny's recipes and presentation standards.
• Supervise food preparation, sandwich assembly, and order accuracy.
• Maintain consistent food quality, portion control, and efficient ticket times.
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness, organization, and adherence to food safety standards.
• Assist with daily prep, stocking, opening, and closing procedures.
• Guide and support team members during busy service periods.

Guest Experience & Front-of-House

• Welcome guests and provide friendly, attentive service.
• Assist customers with menu questions, recommendations, and special requests.
• Support counter service, order taking, and order pickup as needed.
• Help coordinate communication between the kitchen and front counter.
• Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming guest environment.

Team Leadership

• Lead by example and maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.
• Train and support team members in food preparation, service standards, and daily procedures.
• Help maintain smooth operations during high-volume breakfast and lunch service.
• Reinforce Penny's standards for hospitality, cleanliness, consistency, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of restaurant, café, deli, or fast-casual experience preferred.

• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

• Strong food preparation skills and understanding of kitchen operations.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Ability to transition comfortably between kitchen responsibilities and guest-facing duties.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to remain calm, efficient, and positive during busy service.

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

• Dependable, punctual, and willing to take initiative.
