Skilled position that will be responsible for assisting in full payroll processing and will report to the VP of Administration. Duties include (but are not limited to):

- Providing information and answering employee questions about payroll related matters.

- Managing electronic timekeeping systems and/or manually collecting and reviewing timesheets.

- Calculating payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings and deductions.

- Manage direct deposits or the issuance of paychecks.

- Maintaining employee records.

- Maintaining payroll records physically and electronically.

- Coordinating with the HR department to ensure correct employee data.

- Providing administrative assistance to the accounting department.

- Understand state prevailing wage laws as well as federal Davis Bacon laws.

- Certification in prevailing wage for successful labor compliance

- Monthly trust fund reporting.

- Set up of preconstruction documents and submission of PWR paperwork

- Weekly certified payroll reporting (DIR, Elations, LCPtracker)

- Weekly certified payroll reporting to contractors

- Prepare and submit requested payroll information for DIR investigations

- Annual union rate and fringe increases.

- Employee hire and termination paperwork.

- Unemployment benefit paperwork

- Verification of employment

- Assist employees regarding benefits (medical, dental, 401k, AFLAC)

- Assist with temporary employees when applicable

- Maintain PTO

- Process garnishments

- Process medical/dental premiums weekly

- Monthly reconciliation of medical/dental premiums

- Annual payroll checklist regarding W2’s, S-Corp medical/dental

- Maintain sexual harassment employee certificates for the state of CA (required by law)

- Annual maintenance of electronic payroll records.

- Meet with management regarding payroll related issues.

- Archive electronic and physical payroll records

This position requires very high attention to detail and the aptitude to learn the full payroll cycle. Payroll experience is preferred but willing to train the right person. Must have experience in Excel and Outlook. Must be able to meet deadlines (we process payroll twice a week) and maintain HIGH confidentiality when dealing with employee information. Pay is dependent on experience.
