Job Summary: Provide comprehensive health support to students by minimizing absences due to illness and fostering a healthy school environment. Facilitate the educational process by addressing and removing health-related barriers, promoting overall well-being, and enhancing quality medical and health education experiences. Supervise non-licensed and licensed practical nurses as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Efficiently manage supplies and equipment to reduce waste and promote cost savings. Complete duties promptly and document scheduled hours accurately. Participate in scheduled education and maintain proper documentation.
• Deliver quality triage, treatment, and first aid for ill or injured students. Stay current with state health board standards and policy changes. Utilize critical thinking, multitasking, and delegation skills. Develop Individualized Healthcare Plans when necessary.
• Communicate effectively and empathetically with students, staff, and parents. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Provide genuine care tailored to student health needs and support educational success.
• Adhere to universal precautions, fall prevention, and safe patient handling. Administer medications safely using two patient identifiers. Maintain pharmacology knowledge and ensure immunizations/testing compliance. Educate students, parents, and school personnel on health matters. Follow established medical protocols.
• Maintain competency through routine substitute nursing. Exhibit leadership and serve as a role model. Engage in professional organizations, councils, and continuing education such as webinars and seminars.
• Uphold high customer service standards and ethical practices. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. Provide holistic care to diverse student populations and support future healthcare professionals.

Education and Experience Required:

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with an Associate in Nursing Degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire.
• Minimum two years of experience in health care related to school-age children or school nursing preferred.
• BLS certification and computer proficiency required.
• Area-specific education requirements to be obtained and maintained upon hire.

Licensure/Certifications:

Current active Registered Nurse license as required by the state nursing board.

Work Shift: Day shift in a regional setting within the Midwest United States.
