\n \nJob Summary
\nGrassi Healthcare Advisors is seeking an experienced Healthcare Consulting Manager to support healthcare provider organizations throughout New York and New Jersey in navigating complex reimbursement, financial, operational, and strategic challenges. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting, reimbursement rate development, Article 28 and Article 31 reimbursement methodologies, managed care contracting support, and healthcare financial analytics.
\nThis individual will lead consulting engagements for hospitals, health systems, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), ambulatory care providers, behavioral health organizations, nursing facilities, and physician practices. The Manager will work directly with clients and firm leadership to deliver high-value financial and reimbursement consulting services that improve organizational performance and maximize reimbursement opportunities.
\n \nKey Responsibilities
\nHealthcare Reimbursement & Cost Reporting

- Lead preparation, review, and analysis of Medicare, Medicaid, FQHC, and institutional cost reports. \n
- Conduct reimbursement analyses to identify revenue enhancement opportunities and financial risk areas. \n
- Assist providers with New York State Department of Health and New Jersey Department of Human Services reimbursement programs. \n
- Analyze Medicaid rate-setting methodologies, APG reimbursement, fee schedules, managed care payment arrangements, and supplemental payment programs. \n
- Prepare reimbursement impact analyses related to acquisitions, affiliations, service line expansions, and organizational restructuring. \n
- Support responses to governmental audits, desk reviews, and reimbursement inquiries. \n
Financial & Operational Consulting
\n- \n
- Perform healthcare financial assessments, benchmarking studies, and operational improvement analyses. \n
- Develop financial projections, reimbursement forecasts, and strategic business plans. \n
- Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance improvement initiatives. \n
- Evaluate service line profitability and contribution margin performance. \n
- Support value-based care, population health, and alternative payment model initiatives. \n
Client Engagement Management

- Manage multiple consulting engagements simultaneously while maintaining project budgets and timelines. \n
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for clients. \n
- Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership, boards, and governing bodies. \n
- Develop written reports, executive summaries, and client presentations. \n
- Participate in business development efforts, proposal preparation, and client relationship management. \n
Leadership & Team Development

- Supervise senior consultants, consultants, and analysts. \n
- Review work products and provide technical coaching. \n
- Assist in developing reimbursement methodologies, tools, and standard practices. \n
- Contribute to thought leadership, publications, webinars, and conference presentations. \n
Qualifications
\nEducation
\n- \n
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field required. \n
- Master's degree (MHA, MBA, MPH, or related discipline) preferred. \n
Experience
\n- \n
- 7+ years of healthcare consulting, provider finance, reimbursement, or healthcare financial management experience. \n
- Demonstrated experience with: \n
- Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting \n
- New York and/or New Jersey reimbursement methodologies \n
- Article 28, Article 31, FQHC, hospital, nursing home, or physician practice reimbursement \n
- Rate appeals and rate development \n
- Managed care reimbursement analysis \n
- Healthcare financial modeling and forecasting \n
- Prior consulting experience preferred. \n
Technical Skills

- Advanced Excel modeling capabilities. \n
- Experience with healthcare reimbursement software and cost report preparation systems. \n

Location: New York City, Long Island, Upstate New York, Northern New Jersey, or hybrid/remote within the NY/NJ market.
\nReports To: Consulting Principal, Partner, or Chief Executive Officer, depending on engagement structure.
