Located in Utica, NY, this direct hire opportunity offers a pivotal role as a Pharmacist I – Staff Pharmacist within an inpatient hospital setting. This position is ideal for a licensed pharmacist who is experienced in hospital pharmacy operations and sterile compounding, seeking to contribute to quality patient care.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and verifying medication orders for correct dosing, route, frequency, potential interactions, allergies, and contraindications.
- Accurately dispensing, preparing, and labeling medications such as unit-dose drugs, IV admixtures, and controlled substances.
- Preparing sterile compounded products following USP standards and facility protocols.
- Providing drug information and medication-related advice to physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals.
- Monitoring patient medication profiles to identify and resolve drug-related issues.
- Assisting with pharmacy inventory management, including medication ordering, receiving, and proper storage.
- Ensuring compliance with New York State and federal pharmacy regulations.
- Supporting medication safety initiatives and quality improvement programs.
- Supervising pharmacy technicians and maintaining a safe, organized pharmacy environment.
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Active and valid New York State pharmacist license in good standing.
- Prior hospital or inpatient pharmacy experience.
- Competency in sterile compounding and intravenous medication preparation.
