About This Role The Staff Nurse in the Operating Room at Mount Sinai West is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Highlights Pay: $64.2353/hour Location: New York, NY Facility: Mount Sinai West Department/Unit: Operating Room Suite - WST Schedule: Full-Time, Evening shift (3pm - 11pm) What You'll Do Conduct nursing assessments based on interview, examination, observation, and review of patient records. Ensure patient progress is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans. Plan discharge consistent with patient status and inter‑departmental communication. Communicate information to patients based on their level of awareness and readiness to learn. Support orientation of new staff members by providing feedback and acting as a preceptor. Function as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers. Assign patient care reflecting awareness of patient needs and personnel skill levels. Organize provision of care to meet priority needs of patients and unit. Communicate patient conditions requiring additional intervention to leadership. Participate in the development of other staff members. Requirements Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; Associate degree considered with relevant experience or active matriculation in a BSN program. Experience Relevant clinical competence in nursing practice; circulating experience in an Operating Room or completion of a Periop 101 program preferred. Licenses & Certifications Current RN License in New York State. BLS/BCLS certification required. CNOR highly preferred.
