Job Description

This role is a hands-on machine operator position in a clean, climate-controlled food manufacturing facility. You will start by running and loading production equipment and, after a thorough training period, take full ownership of machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting. The position requires strict adherence to food safety standards and personal protective equipment guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Operate food manufacturing machinery safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
• Perform complete machine setup, including configuring equipment for specific production runs.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues on the machines, not just basic button pressing.
• Monitor production processes to ensure consistent quality, output, and adherence to food safety standards.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to set up, troubleshoot, and run production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on machine operation experience beyond basic button pressing, with the ability to understand how equipment functions.
• Experience in food manufacturing or a similar regulated production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in food manufacturing is a significant plus.
• Comfort working with production, troubleshooting, and machine setup in a unionized environment.
• Ability to participate in a shift bid system based on seniority after the initial six months.
• Willingness to learn multiple machines and processes to increase flexibility and advancement opportunities.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled food manufacturing facility with a strong emphasis on hygiene and safety. There are traditional 2nd and 3rd shifts (Monday–Friday and Sunday–Thursday respectively). The environment requires full food PPE, including hairnets and beard nets, and strictly prohibits jewelry of any kind, including facial piercings, nose rings, earrings, watches, and similar items. Work takes place on modern production equipment within a unionized setting, offering a structured schedule and clearly defined shift patterns.

This is a Permanent position based out of Independence, MO.

The pay range for this position is $46800.00 - $49400.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
