Business Development SpecialistLocation: Greater San Francisco, CA OR Anywhere West CoastTravel: Up to 50%Working Pattern: Fully RemoteAs a Business Development Specialist, you will play a key role in expanding awareness of Lonza's Integrated Biologics offerings across the US West region. Working closely with Business Development Directors, Market Intelligence, and Commercial Development teams, you will identify and engage emerging biotech companies, qualify new opportunities, and help build a strong pipeline of future business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys networking, researching innovative companies, and building relationships within the biotechnology industry.What you will get:The full-time base annual salary for this position is expected to range between $103,500 –$138,000, plus eligibility for a sales incentive plan.An agile career and dynamic working cultureThe opportunity to support the development of life-changing therapiesPerformance-related bonus.Medical, dental and vision insurance.401(k) matching plan.Life insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability insurance.Employee assistance programs.Paid time off (PT0).Compensation for this role will be determined by the candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, and relevant knowledge.What you will do:Research and identify new biotech companies, consultants, and potential customers across the US West territoryConduct outreach through phone, email, and networking activities to establish new business relationshipsQualify prospects and convert them into sales-ready leads for Business Development DirectorsFollow up on marketing-generated inquiries and nurture early-stage opportunitiesBuild knowledge of Lonza's biologics development and manufacturing capabilities to effectively communicate our value propositionCollaborate with Market Intelligence, Technical Sales, Commercial Development, and Licensing teamsSupport conference planning, partnering meetings, trade shows, and booth activitiesUtilize lead-generation platforms such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Zymewire, Citeline, and similar tools to identify opportunitiesMaintain accurate prospect information and activity recordsHelp strengthen Lonza's presence within key biotech hubs across the western United StatesWhat we are looking for:Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field1-5 years of experience in business development, technical sales, project management, research and development, or a related fieldInterest in biotechnology, drug development, and life sciences industriesStrong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with new peopleExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to build relationships and understand customer needsStrong organizational, research, and time management skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environmentPositive attitude, resilience, and a collaborative mindsetWillingness to travel occasionally for training, meetings, and industry conferencesAbout LonzaAt Lonza, our people are our greatest strength.
