Externships give students a chance to increase their skill set and prepare for a career in nursing. Externs will work in one of the world’s largest academic medical centers. They will work with physicians, allied professionals and other nurses in an environment where they can exchange ideas and increase their medical knowledge. UCLA Health Nursing Summer Externship Program UCLA Health Nursing Summer Externship Program offers work experience to nursing students who have completed their junior year and are entering their senior year of nursing school. The externship is unpaid. As investors, venture capitalists (VCs) are investing in new ideas, innovations, and most importantly teams, where do they begin? This is called deal sourcing. Externs will profile startup companies, learn what VCs look for, and be a part of investing in the next generation of technology. HP Tech Ventures is seeking ambitious students to help research relevant pre‑seed stage startups for deal sourcing and evaluation. This project includes special data analytics projects that allow students to practice using analysis tools to perform business model, strategy, and value chain analysis. The experience research startup metrics, industry data, team, and business models determine product differentiation and strategy across startups, construct market maps across various startup sectors, and manage data using data cleaning methods and tools such as Open Refine. Student Nurse Externship Program at TMC Student Nurse Externship Program at TMC offers nursing students in their final semester a paid 11‑week opportunity starting May 28, 2024, to develop skills in various units like Med/Surg, Neuro, and Cardiac Care. Responsibilities include direct patient care under RN supervision, assisting with daily activities, vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, and maintaining a safe environment. Students will be responsible for all expenses, including travel and housing. American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) Externships American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) Externships are designed to provide a 2‑3 week work experience in laboratory animal medicine for veterinary medicine students. The externships are offered at several different host locations. Students may choose an externship at a university such as Johns Hopkins or Ohio State University, or they can complete their externship at a medical facility such as Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Each externship will provide a placement that will match students’ interests and career goals. Georgetown Law Student Externship Externships are a great way for law students at Georgetown University to experience working in law within the public sector. Training external to the classroom is available through the unpaid externship program that allows students to work in various work environments. Students accepted into the externship program may choose to work for the federal government, on the Hill, in judicial chambers, or in local or national non‑profit agencies.
