Litigation Associate

Job Overview A law firm seeks an experienced litigation associate in El Segundo, CA. The ideal candidate will join a dynamic defense practice, gaining meaningful litigation experience and direct client interaction. This role offers courtroom exposure and a clear path toward long-term career growth. Duties Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution. Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents. Conduct legal research and prepare written advocacy. Take and defend depositions. Attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences. Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys. Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, experts, and opposing counsel. Evaluate liability, damages, and litigation risk. Maintain accurate billing and case management records. Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as appropriate. Requirements Active membership in the California State Bar. Minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience. Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills. Ability to independently manage cases while working collaboratively within a team environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Experience in medical malpractice defense, dental malpractice defense, general liability, public entity defense, professional liability, or insurance defense litigation is highly preferred. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications Active membership in the California State Bar. Skills Strong legal writing and research skills.
