Metal Parts Cleaner/ Finisher

Location: Byron Center, MI

Shift: 2nd Shift Monday – Friday 1:00 pm - 11:30 pm; Saturday 5:00 am – 10:00 am

Pay: $18.00+per hour

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Metal Parts Cleaner / Finisher to join our manufacturing team in Byron Center, MI. This position is responsible for cleaning, deburring, polishing, and finishing metal components to ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing high-quality work, maintains a safe and organized workspace, and works effectively in a team environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Metal Parts Cleaner/ Finisher, your core responsibilities will include:

• Clean metal parts using various methods, including solvents, detergents, pressure washers, and other approved cleaning equipment
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, weld splatter, and surface imperfections using hand and power tools
• Polish, grind, sand, and finish metal components to customer and engineering specifications
• Inspect parts for quality, workmanship, and compliance with production standards
• Prepare products for secondary operations, assembly, coating, or shipment
• Read and follow work instructions, job travelers, and production schedules
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area following company safety procedures
• Safely operate finishing equipment such as grinders, sanders, deburring tools, tumblers, and cleaning stations
• Identify and report quality concerns, damaged parts, or equipment issues to supervision
• Meet productivity goals while maintaining quality standards

In addition, you may also be requested to help with manual material handling, packaging, and other production duties as needed in the warehouse to accomplish company goals and deadlines.

To be successful in this role, you should have the following:

Qualifications / Skill Sets :

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior experience in manufacturing, metal finishing, polishing, deburring, or other metalworking processes is preferred; training may be provided for the right candidate.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, production documentation, and basic measurements.
• Dependable with a strong work ethic, reliable attendance, and punctuality.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Capable of standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to frequently bend, reach, twist, stoop, and perform other physical movements required in a production setting.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, metal shavings, and varying temperatures.
• Willingness and ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.
• Demonstrates a proactive approach to workplace safety and adherence to all company safety policies and procedures.
