This role serves as a key organizational leader and advisor, staffing the Finance Committee, presenting financial reports to the Board, and driving sound fiscal strategy to support the Association’s mission and long-term sustainability.Director Of Finance & Administration Responsibilities:1. Manages financial resources of the AssociationDevelops and maintains relationships with banks and other financial institutions; opens and closes accounts within authority granted by BoardManages cash flow to maximize return on Association cash assetsMonitors performance of investments; makes recommendations concerning more effective investment of Association resourcesOversees annual audit/review and tax return preparation by independent CPA firm, including all related compliance and filings.2. Manages day-to-day accounting activities of the AssociationReviews accounting transactions for accuracy and performs necessary monthly entries to ensure accuracy of financial reportsPrepares regular financial statements, as well as special reports requested by staff or the Board of DirectorsManages bank, cash, credit card and other Association accounts; reconciles statements and transfers funds as necessaryManages accounts payable function, ensuring payment and reconciliation of vendor invoicesManages accounts receivable function; takes actions as necessary to collect outstanding obligationsMaintains records of Association assets; ensures proper accounting for depreciation and amortization of assetsAssists with grant management and reporting as requested3. Creates and monitors the annual operating budget for the Association and related entitiesCoordinates with the CEO to establish and administer annual operational budget for the entire Association in collaboration with department headsPresents annual budget to Finance Committee and Executive Committee to obtain approvalMonitors budget to actual results throughout the year and provides direction to department heads regarding budgetary overagesConsiders budgetary implications across all entities for new initiatives4. Responsible for legal and regulatory compliance and necessary filings for the AssociationOversees the preparation of necessary tax filings including 1099s, W-2s, quarterly payroll filings, etcManages applicable liability insurance policies for the AssociationSubmits annual LARA reports for all entitiesPrepares PAC and Lobbying reporting for compliance with Michigan reporting regulations.5. Administers Human Resources, Payroll and Benefit programs for the AssociationAdministers employee benefits plans, ensuring all documents are properly filedConducts new employee orientations and exit interviewsReviews applications for employment; conducts reference checks and verifies informationMaintains HR-related documents for all Association employeesHandles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policiesProcesses periodic payroll; ensures timely filing of payroll reportsAdministers employee benefits plans, ensuring all documents are properly filedServes as employer-sponsored 401k Plan Administrator, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations6. Attends Board of Directors meetings, representing Finance & Administration.Staffs the Finance Committee at and in between all Board of Directors meetings.Provides insight and updates to the Board of Directors at and in between meetings.Responsible for recording minutes at all Board of Directors meetings.Location: Lansing, MI/HybridBase Salary: $100,000-$125,000 Creative Financial Staffing
