Description of the role at GEI. GEI seeks a motivated civil engineer, preferably with advanced education in geotechnical engineering, to assist with complex projects across California and the U.S. GEI's California practice covers levees, dams, instrumentation, excavation support, foundations, floodwalls, tunnels, and ground treatment. Entry-level engineers support senior staff by planning, observing, documenting field activities, performing analyses, and preparing technical reports. GEI offers a hybrid workplace environment, allowing a combination of remote work and in-office days, supporting flexibility in work arrangements. Essential Responsibilities & Duties Support senior staff on geotechnical instrumentation, investigations, design support, reinforced concrete structures, and document preparation. Perform geotechnical modeling, analysis, and design calculations as part of a team. Prepare design and construction drawings, specifications, technical memos, reports, and construction specs. Assist in preparing cost estimates, schedules, and monitor construction activities. Work in the field up to 50% of the time; may include out-of-area assignments of 2-3 weeks. Assist with proposals and business development activities. Minimum Qualifications B.S. in Civil Engineering; M.S. preferred. EIT certification is strongly preferred. Background in geotechnical and earthquake engineering. Self-motivated, able to work independently and in teams. Proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoStudio; GIS experience preferred.
