Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 or 26 weeks) | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 36 or 48 hours per week available | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a general medical surgical and telemetry unit serving patients with conditions including total knee and hip replacements, complicated orthopedic cases, pulmonary, sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, and psychiatric illnesses
• Care for patients on a secured floor that includes those with underlying behavioral health conditions such as detox and dementia; training for safety and de-escalation is provided
• Manage IV drips, which are required across all floors
• Document patient care using EPIC electronic health records (required)
• Float within scope to meet facility staffing needs, including to other units and an additional campus; travelers are first to float and should expect to do so frequently
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team including CNAs, care techs, transport, paramedics/swoop, and LPNs (where assigned)

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nebraska RN state license required; pending license accepted, though submission will be scheduled six weeks out if license is not in hand at time of submission)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting (first-time travelers not accepted; exception considered for those with 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center)
• EPIC charting experience required
• Comfort caring for behavioral health patient populations, including patients who may be flagged as potentially violent
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification preferred
• Experience with orthopedic, telemetry, or behavioral health patient populations
